
Academy Rules
This is a diverse, welcoming, safe space for everyone. All bodies are welcome here
Be humble and keep a positive attitude while training
Class starts on time. Try to be punctual. If you are late, show up anyway
Wear a solid color gi with matching pants and top. Wear a rash guard or t-shirt under your gi top
On no-gi days, rashguard and board shorts or tights are required
Mind your space to avoid collisions. Yield space to upper belts while sparring
Train in the academy to learn and improve, not to win every round
Never intentionally harm anyone
Use control when applying submissions
Respect your training partners
Line up by rank at the beginning of each class
No cell phones on the mat
Jumping guard and heel hooking are permitted only with partner’s permission
Hygiene
Do not train if you are sick
Mind your smells. Wear a clean uniform to every class. Be clean and wear deodorant. Nails must be short and trimmed
No shoes on the mat. No bare feet off the mat
Cleaning mats after class is a group effort - pitch in whenever you can
No food, drink, or gum on the mat
Kids Class
Parents who train are welcome to assist the kids’ class with instructor’s permission. Be respectful of the instructor at all times
Absolutely no coaching from off the mats
If parents leave during class, kids must be picked up promptly when class is over
